by Dorothy Karandanis

Many people travel far and wide to find the charming picturesque vistas found in magazines and on postcards. Much money is spent in travel and hotels and other trappings of the tourist in the search to find their own interpretation of a heaven on earth. But what many people do not know is that Eden is not far from them at all and that some of the most beautiful, inspirational, and refreshing vistas are found in small suburbs. In places such as Avondale.

The author found her own place of tranquility and peace in the beauty and wonder of Avondale, and she shares her lovely finds with readers through the pages of Abelias of Avondale. A lifelong love of gardens attracted her to Avondale, and the many varieties of flowers, shrubs, and trees, and the charm of the houses and animals, has kept this warm and lovely place in her heart.

Abelias of Avondale is as soft and warm as the neighborhood cats, as dazzling as a field of flowers in the soft sunlight, and as peaceful as the porch swing on a seventy-plus-year-old house. Take this trip through Avondale and experience the pleasures of a different place not far from home.

This new version of the book contains ten additional illustrated poems.
