In this charming illustrated book, Poppy the Golf Ball discovers that he is different from other golf balls: He can hear, see, and enjoy flying through the air. Lost for months, he has a number of gentle and exciting adventures before a boy finds him and takes him home. Poppy becomes an admired member of the family and is displayed in the place of honor of a “Hole in One” trophy.
About the Author: A native of California, grunion is a retired electronic engineer who still lives in that state. His interests are wide-ranging: music and playing guitar, reading, writing, painting and drawing, jogging, hiking, swimming and surfing, over-the-line, camping, and sports. Ths Adventures of Poppy the Golf Ball, he says, was inspired by twenty-five years of visits to Tecolote canyon with his children. Thanks to San Diego’s Open Space legislation, passed in the 1960s, a planned highway was canceled, and the canyon remains today as it was thirty-eight years ago when grunion first entered it.
Although grunion has written magazine articles, this is his first book.
