Benny’s Last Blast!! is the story of overworked jazz angel Sebastian B. Coles III, a.k.a. "Benny," who resides in Jazz Heaven and is one of God’s best jazz angels. He is entrusted by God and God’s Jazz Council with a mission on Planet Earth that’s so breathtaking it will call on all of Benny’s powers and expertise as a jazz angel to successfully complete. He will "appear" nightly at Pete’s Place, a once-popular jazz club that’s seen better days, gigging on his heavenly trumpet with Bill Monday’s Blue Monday Combo – Bill Monday, Fats Booker, Swingtime Simmons, and Wildman Brown – four former great jazz musicians who are now in the twilight of their careers. This new jazz mission to Planet Earth is the biggest and most serious God has yet assigned Benny. Will Benny be able to complete the job to God’s liking, or have God and His Jazz Council chosen the wrong angel to send down to Planet Earth to perform what must be a miracle at Pete’s Place?
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
It was the love of jazz that prompted Missouri native Denis Gray to write Benny’s Last Blast!!, along with his belief that any art must have its practitioners for it to survive. This music lover currently resides in Long Island, New York, with his wife Barbara. They have a son, Darin. Benny’s Last Blast!! is also available as a play by the same name.
