Doctor Richard Land, a dedicated military surgeon repairing the bodies of soldiers sent home from Vietnam is accustomed to death. He is ordered by his commanding officer to attend a funeral with his mother, then the reading of the will. He is shocked to be the recipient of a bequest from a person he has never known.
In New York he meets Kate, the man’s daughter and together they learn of the exciting and dangerous life of the deceased and of his relationship with the story tellers.
With flashbacks the reader is taken through the battlegrounds of Africa and Europe to the streets of New York.
Doctor Richard Blaine Land’s life and that of Kate is changed completely, as they are drawn toward the truth, or the truth as told to them.
About the AuthorBarrie Edward currently resides in Hanover. A native of England, he moved to Massachusetts and worked as a CPA until his retirement. A fan of the movie Casablanca, he dedicates this book to his wife, Anita, who watches the movie with him every year.
