Become a Member of Our Book Review Team
We're just like you. We like books. We read books. And we like to share our thoughts on the books we've read with others. Who are we? We're members of the Dorrance Book Review Team.
Our Book Review Team is compiled of readers and lovers of books. Whether you enjoy popular fiction or poetry, American history or works for children, or social and political commentary, we have a book you may be interested in.
Membership and participation in the Team is simple. Send us an email indicating your interest in joining the group, including your full name, mailing address, and primary email address, as well as a very short explanation why you wish to become part of the Book Review Team. In addition, we'd appreciate if you could let us know how you heard about the Team.
In response, we'll send you an email confirming your membership and reaffirming your membership requirements, all of which are detailed below and in our FAQ section. You will also receive a coupon code for use in our online bookstore, good for either the free download of any one e-book or the order and shipment of any one printed book. Please note that printed books can only be sent to Team members living in the United States; international members are eligible only for the free download of e-books.

What should my review look like? Are there a minimum number of words it should contain? We ask that your review contain a minimum of 100 words. It should mention that the book is "published by Dorrance Publishing." Your review should share your honest opinion of the book, backed up by reasons and examples. For example:
"When I married into an English family, I came to learn that making a cup of tea was more than throwing a generic black tea sachet into a mug of hot water. Now that I'm expecting my first child, I want to learn more about the practice and tradition of taking tea so my child is able to properly break scones with my husband's family. I was thrilled to come across Pollard Patrick's Children's Specialteas, published by Dorrance Publishing, which focuses on the social aspects of this old tradition. I liked that the author was so enthusiastic about her subject; it made reading her book fun and not a bore. She also gives a lot of background detail on why things are done in a certain way, explaining what makes a tea "proper." I was a little disappointed by the length of the book. I think there is a lot more that could be covered. I would have loved to see some recipes as well. Overall though I was really happy with this book. I can see me using it as a reference over the years and can imagine the tea parties I'll be having with my little one in the decade to come."

Do I have to link my review to the Dorrance bookstore? If so, how do I do this?In order to provide exposure for the book you are reviewing, we ask that you include a link to the book's listing in our online bookstore if you have posted a review on your personal blog or on another book review site. You would not be required to do this if you have posted a review on the site of another book retailer (i.e., Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, or Borders.com).
Some of the sites where you can post a book review may have a separate field where you can enter the link before submitting the review. Other sites may not have this field in which case you can copy the link directly into the main text of your book review. To acquire the link for the book you are reviewing, go to www.dorrancebookstore.com. You can navigate to the book either by browsing the main categories on the side bar (fiction, poetry, etc.) or by clicking Site Map on the top navigation bar and locating the book in our alphabetical list of titles. You can also type in a word or phrase from the book's title in the Search box located in the upper right corner of our web page.
Once you have clicked through to the book's full listing, the link to this exact title appears in your Internet browser's navigation bar at the top. You can then highlight all the text in the navigation bar, right-click on it and choose Copy, then paste that information into your book review. For example, if you were reviewing the book The Navajo Code Talkers, the link to this title in our bookstore would appear like this after you copied it: http://www.dorrancebookstore.com/navcodtal.html.

9.
What if I just don't like a book? Do I have to post a positive review?Of course we hope you enjoy the book you choose to read and review. There may, however, be times when a book simply doesn't tickle your fancy. Whether you love a book or loathe it, we want nothing from you but an honest review. Your true opinion about a book is what matters. There will certainly be no penalties if you make the choice to post a review that is less-than-glowing.
10.
Does it cost me anything to be a reviewer?Absolutely not! Dorrance provides books for you to review at absolutely no charge.
