“Who is God?” Although the nature and existence of a divine being has been pondered since the beginning of humankind, The Evolution of God, Changing Concepts of God – from Jehovah, the Father, and Allah to Your Neighbor’s Ideas Today takes a fresh approach by examining God in a historical context. Focusing on people and cultures, Paul Seydel explores the individual manifestations of God which are, or have been, worshipped around the world.

Rather than question the reality of who God actually is, Seydel instead explores who, or what, humans perceive God to be by carefully examining the scriptures and history of different groups. He asserts that each religion has a character of God around which that religion is constructed. Throughout The Evolution of God, Seydel compares these gods, offering links to their similarities as well as examples of what makes them unique.

Thoroughly researched historical and cultural information combines with intelligent prose to offer insights into why God is who he is. The Evolution of God is an intriguing exploration of cultures and their beliefs.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Paul Seydel retired in 1966 at the age of fifty-two as president of Seydel-Woolley & Co. in Atlanta, Georgia, in order to travel and explore all seven continents – sometimes sailing his on boat across the oceans. This brought him in touch with many people’s ideas, cultures, and religions worldwide and inspired an intense interest in the study of religion and a desire to share his findings – in the hope that wider understanding of others will help promote peace.
