Reader Review for Existing the Moments
5.0 out of 5 stars Existing the Moments- Philosophical Fiction, January 25, 2009 By Bronte's Buddy (Colorado)
Existing the Moments is superbly written as a sort of memoir. detailing the life and experiences of main character, Maria- a struggling, angsty artist who has suffered unimaginable losses, and desperately is trying to regroup. In her emphatic desire to understand life, she begins to question everything, wondering what is true, what is not, and how she fits into the grand scheme of her own life.
Philosophical concepts are woven into the storyline so that those adept with philosophy will readily appreciate existential themes, while those readers who are not well-versed in philosophy will still be inspired by a tremendous work of fiction that has all the makings of a classic, likened to the writing of Nicholas Sparks. I wouldn't be surprised to see a movie deal out of this one!
The style of writing that author, Taylor DiVico uses beckons any reader to comtemplate philosophy in the scope of the characters' lives, all of whom you can't help but fall in love with at first introduction, as they are deep, complex, and well-developed. I was so intrigued by the storyline and the philosophy that I couldn't put this book down. It really pulled me in right from the start and I found myself not wanting it to end. My fingers are crossed for a sequel and yours will be too. It's just that excellent of a read!
Existing the Moments is delightfully dramatic, drawing on the comedic and tragic tendencies of life. A reader can't help but come away from this book with inspiration and new outlooks...and the yearning to read more by this author.
